The startup toast and `omo --version` were reading from the legacy flat install
at <CACHE_DIR>/node_modules/<pkg>/package.json, but OpenCode actually loads
plugins from a per-plugin sandbox at <CACHE_DIR>/<plugin-entry>/node_modules/
<pkg>/package.json. The two install layers can drift independently when bun
re-resolves "latest" against the flat install while the sandbox's package.json
stays pinned to a literal version baked in at first install.
In practice this means the toast can announce a version the runtime is not
running. Concrete reproduction: with `"oh-my-openagent@latest"` in the plugin
list, the sandbox stayed on 3.17.5 while the parallel flat install advanced to
3.17.6, so the startup toast confidently reported v3.17.6 even though the
loaded plugin code was 3.17.5.
Walking up from `import.meta.url` always reflects the actually-loaded module,
so reorder `getCachedVersion()` to try that first and fall back to the flat-
install candidates and execPath walk-up as before. The fallback chain is
preserved for bundled environments where the module-relative lookup may fail.

The update checker was using strict string comparison (===) to compare
current and latest versions. This caused false-positive update notifications
when versions were semantically equal but had different string representations
(e.g., with/without 'v' prefix, different formatting).
Changed to use compareVersions() which properly parses and compares
semver versions, handling 'v' prefixes and other variations correctly.
Fixes: incorrect 'v3.17.2 available' notifications when already on latest version
Extract hardcoded GPT apply_patch permission logic into a reusable module
to ensure consistent behavior across all agents. This prevents GPT models
from using the unreliable apply_patch tool while allowing other models.
- Add gpt-apply-patch-guard.ts with GPT_APPLY_PATCH_GUIDANCE and getGptApplyPatchPermission
- Update Hephaestus agent to use centralized permission logic
- Update Sisyphus-Junior agent to use centralized permission logic
- Update all GPT prompt builders to reference shared guidance constant
🤖 Generated with assistance of OhMyOpenCode
The auto-update-checker's version resolver hardcoded the canonical
oh-my-opencode package name in three read paths:
1. INSTALLED_PACKAGE_JSON pointed only at
cache/node_modules/oh-my-opencode/package.json
2. findPackageJsonUp() rejected any walked-up package.json whose name
did not equal PACKAGE_NAME
3. getLocalDevPath() only matched file:// plugin entries whose path
contained the canonical name
The publish pipeline ships the same code under two npm package names
(oh-my-opencode canonical, oh-my-openagent alias). Users who add
"oh-my-openagent" to their opencode config end up with
node_modules/oh-my-openagent/package.json, so every read path above
silently missed the installed version and the startup toast fell back
to "unknown".
Introduce ACCEPTED_PACKAGE_NAMES + INSTALLED_PACKAGE_JSON_CANDIDATES in
constants.ts and teach the three readers to accept both names. Writes
are untouched (sync-package-json, pinned-version-updater, cache
invalidation) because the auto-update-checker still owns its own cache
workspace and writes to the canonical name there.
Tests: 54 auto-update-checker tests pass (4 new), full 4444-test suite
passes, tsc clean. New tests cover both install paths, the walk-up
resolver, and the priority order when both candidates exist.
Closes#3257
Changed PACKAGE_NAME from 'oh-my-openagent' to 'oh-my-opencode' in
auto-update-checker/constants.ts to match package.json. This fixes
getCachedVersion() returning null, causing 'unknown' in version toast.
TDD: red-green confirmed. 39 tests pass, tsc clean.

- Moved hook-integration tests → src/hooks/_auc-mocks-hook/
- Moved workspace-resolution tests → src/hooks/_auc-mocks-workspace/
- Moved background-update-check tests → src/hooks/_auc-mocks-bgupdate/
- Moved cache tests → src/hooks/_auc-mocks-cache/
- Moved sync-package-json tests → src/hooks/_auc-sync-mocks/
- Removed hook.test.ts, workspace-resolution.test.ts, background-update-check.test.ts from auto-update-checker
- Removed cache.test.ts from auto-update-checker
- Each test file with mock.module() now in its own isolated CI batch
- Bun's prefix glob matching was picking up _auc-mocks-* when running auto-update-checker
- Solution: Separate into dedicated directories prevents cross-contamination
CI Results: 3151 pass, 0 fail ✓
sync-package-json.test.ts mocks node:fs which leaks into plugin-entry.test.ts
running in the same CI batch. Move to checker/sync/ subdirectory for isolation.
- Add afterAll(() => { mock.restore() }) to 52 test files missing cleanup
- Rewrite create-tool-guard-hooks.test.ts to use spyOn instead of barrel mock
- Fix skill-mcp-manager OAuth tests with missing mockTokens/mockLogin definitions
- Fix start-work hook: show worktree active block on resume with existing worktree_path
- Extract createWorktreeActiveBlock to worktree-block.ts to avoid circular import
- Replace 80-line isolated test runner CI config with single `bun test` command
background-update-check.ts was using runBunInstall() which defaults to outputMode:"inherit", leaking bun install stdout/stderr into the background session. Reverted to runBunInstallWithDetails({ outputMode: "pipe" }) and explicitly logs result.error on failure.
Restores the accidentally deleted test case asserting that sibling dependencies (e.g. other:"1.0.0") are preserved in package.json after a plugin version sync.

The previous pattern `(-[\w.]+)?` used `\w` which excludes hyphens, causing versions like `1.2.3-alpha-1` and `1.2.3-rc-test` to be misclassified as unpinned tags. Updated both plugin-entry.ts and sync-package-json.ts (which share the definition) to the spec-compliant pattern that allows dot-separated identifiers using [0-9A-Za-z-] and optional build metadata.
Also adds String() coercion before .trim() in sync-package-json.ts to guard against a TypeError if the parsed JSON value for currentVersion is non-string at runtime.

When users switch from pinned version to tag in opencode.json (e.g.,
3.10.0 -> @latest), the cache package.json still contains the resolved
version. This causes bun install to reinstall the old version instead
of resolving the new tag.
This adds syncCachePackageJsonToIntent() which updates the cache
package.json to match user intent before running bun install. Uses
atomic writes (temp file + rename) with UUID-based temp names for
concurrent safety.
Critical changes:
- Treat all sync errors as abort conditions (file_not_found,
plugin_not_in_deps, parse_error, write_error) to prevent corrupting
a bad cache state further
- Remove dead code (unreachable revert branch for pinned versions)
- Add tests for all error paths and atomic write cleanup

the cache package.json still contains the pinned version. This causes bun install

This adds syncCachePackageJsonToIntent() which updates the cache package.json

Also fixes mock.module in test files to include all exported constants,
preventing module pollution across parallel tests.
Fixes#1920
Installer-written exact versions (e.g., oh-my-opencode@3.5.2) were incorrectly treated as user-pinned, blocking auto-updates for all installer users.
Fix isPinned to only block auto-update when pinnedVersion is an explicit semver string (user's intent). Channel tags (latest, beta, next) and bare package name all allow auto-update.
Fix installer fallback to return bare PACKAGE_NAME for stable versions and PACKAGE_NAME@{channel} for prerelease versions, preserving channel tracking.
When bun install fails after updating the config pin, the config now shows the
new version but the actual package is the old one. Add revertPinnedVersion() to
roll back the config entry on install failure, keeping config and installed
version in sync.
